On Friday evening, Geo News reporter, Ali Imran, left his house to visit a nearby bakery and did not return home. According to the details, Ali left his home around 7-8 pm and informed his family that he would be back in half an hour however, he did not return at all.
His car was parked outside, and his cellphone was home as well, his wife informed. The family has informed the police authorities about Ali Imran’s disappearance and an application was submitted to the Sachal police station.
Moreover, the Geo News administration has also informed the Karachi police chief and DIG East about the Geo News Reporter, Ali Imran’s disappearance. The police have assured the concerned that strict investigation will follow, and CCTV footage will be thoroughly inspected to find any clues.
As the matter escalated, Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, directed the General of Sindh Police, Mushtaq Mahar, to ensure that the Geo News reporter, Ali Imran, is safely and immediately recovered. “Such actions against journalists are intolerable,” said Murad Ali Shah.
“I want a progress report on Ali Imran every hour.”
Moreover, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shibli Faraz, also took notice of the Geo News reporter’s missing and prayed for his safety and reunion with the family.

This matter quickly came to the notice of the public, PPP chairman, Bilawal Bhutto also took to social media and said, “The process of suppressing voices must stop now.” He added that Incidents like the disappearance of journalists create a “negative image of Pakistan around the world”.
The Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists has raised immense concern over the matter and has requested Prime Minister, Imran Khan and Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, to take immediate action for the recovery of Ali Imran.
The RUIJ also released a statement claiming that if Geo News reporter, Ali Imran, is not found the unions will organize country-wide protests. Some journalists have also begun speculation that Ali Imran was arrested because he had recovered CCTV footage of Captain Safdar’s arrest from Karachi’s hotel.

Furthermore, the information has also reached Amnesty International, and they have said, “Ali Imran Syed, a reporter for Geo News, has been missing from Karachi since yesterday and feared to have been subject to an enforced disappearance for his reporting,” said the rights watchdog.
