Some of the biggest names took home awards in the American Music Awards 2020

The American Music Awards 2020 – also known as the AMAs 2020 – aired live on Sunday 22nd of November from Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles with completely following the SOP’s and some biggest names of the industry took home awards.

Taraji P. Henson hosted the American Music Awards 2020. The show had several live performances, in-person presenters, and a small audience. The Weeknd and Roddy Rich led with eight nominees each. Other artists nominated were Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, Bad Bunny, and DaBaby.

Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes opened the show with their new single, “Monster”. Bieber also performed two of his hits, “Lonely” and “Holy”. Katy Perry took the stage – with Darius Rucker – that too after a very long time and the first time after becoming a mom. Megan Thee Stallion also performed.

American Music Awards 2020

Taylor Swift won the “Artist of the Year” award along with “Favourite Female Artist” & “Music Video of the Year” award for the song “Cardigan”. Swift was unable to accept the award in person as she was busy re-recording her early music catalog, which was recently sold. While the “Favourite Male Artist” award was won by Justin Bieber.

Furthermore, the “Favourite Album” award went to Harry Styles for his album, “Fine Line”, “Favourite pop song” went to Dua Lippa for her song “Don’t Start Now”. Along with Taylor Swift, The Weeknd won three awards in the soul/R&B category that included the “Favourite Male Artist”, “Favourite Album”, for his album “After Hours” and “Favourite Song” for his song, “Heartless”.
