#ArrestAmberMalik Trending on Twitter Instead of #PIAPlaneCrash
It has been exactly a week since the #PIAPlaneCrash and the wounds of many have not healed but twitter focuses on #ArrestAmberMalik.
Exactly a week ago, an airplane of PIA was supposed to land in Karachi. Unfortunately, due to certain mishaps, the plane crashed into a residential area instead of landing on the runway. Many people lost their lives and god knows how much they suffered. Many bodies had burnt to the point where it was hard to recognize without DNA testing. But we’re not talking about that, we’re talking about #ArrestAmberMalik on twitter.
A week later, we’re talking about a personal matter between Uzma Khan, Amna Malik and Usman Malik. The harassment was not needed and yes, those women who barged into the house threatening those girls were wrong to do so. It could have been dealt with very patiently and legally. One cannot take legal matters into their hands.
What Uzma did was wrong but there were better ways to handle the situation. Instead of dealing with it legally, they took the matters into their hands and made a joke out of themselves on social media. #ArrestAmberMalik is trending on Twitter, who allegedly broke into the house with 12 gunmen, according to Uzma Khan’s statement.
Why aren’t we focusing on #PIAPlaneCrash that took place last week? Wasn’t that a soul-shaking experience for any human being? 97 deaths have been recorded yet and many people can’t find dead bodies of their loved ones to date. This issue is far more important than an extra-marital affair. The harassment and threats should be taken into account and Uzma should receive justice. However, that doesn’t mean we should simply ignore one of the biggest mistakes of PIA which was #PIAPlaneCrash.
The matter can be dealt with without making it all so public. Everything on social media spreads like wildfire and no one really knows what actually happened. Many are divided after statements of Uzma, Huma and Amna Malik were realized. There has been a lot of name shaming on social media and no fruitful results yet.
I’m not saying that this issue isn’t important but my point is that should we all really focus on someone’s private life and discuss it all on social media? What they did was wrong and should be dealt with legally and at the same time, we should not forget all those who are mourning the death of their family, friends and loved ones in PIA’s plane crash. You get to decide whether you want to talk about Uzma Khan, Usman Malik, Amna Malik and Amber Malik or the horrendous PIA plane crash. #ArrestAmberMalik or #PIAPlaneCrash.
