On, January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking the beginning of his second term in office. The ceremony took place inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda due to extreme cold weather conditions.
In his inaugural address, President Trump declared, “The Golden Age of America begins now,” emphasizing a return to national greatness and sovereignty. He criticized previous administrations for what he described as corruption and incompetence, saying, “Our sovereignty will be reclaimed,” asserting that the nation’s decline would end immediately.
Donald Trump, during his inauguration as President, outlined a series of several key policy objectives and priorities for his administration.
Addressing national security, Trump emphasized the importance of protecting the country from external threats, stating, “As Commander In Chief, I have no higher responsibility than to defend our country from threats and invasions.” He announced plans to address border security, “First, I will declare a national emergency at our southern border.”
Trump also highlighted concerns about the education system, criticizing what he described as its negative impact on young Americans. “We have an education system that teaches our children to be ashamed of themselves and, in many cases, to hate our country,” he said, signaling plans for reforms aimed at addressing these issues.
Trump signs actions to pull US out of Paris climate agreement, declaring a national energy emergency with a focus on expanding domestic oil production. “Today, I will also declare a national energy emergency, we will drill, baby, drill,” he said, adding that the country’s natural resources would play a key role in economic growth.
He also announced the termination of the Green New Deal and the revocation of the electric vehicle mandate, aiming to save the auto industry and uphold commitments to American auto workers. “We have the largest amount of oil and gas of any country on Earth, and we are going to use it. We will bring prices down, fill our strategic reserves up again right to the top, and export American energy all over the world. We will be a rich nation, and it is that liquid gold under our feet that will help to do it,”
“The inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating energy prices,” Trump said during his inaugural address.
Trump also announced measures to address free speech, pledging to eliminate government censorship. “I will also sign an executive order to immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech,” he said. In addition, he committed to ending government policies that promote identity based initiatives, stating, “We are going to bring law and order back to our cities. This week, I will also end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”
Trump vowed an executive order for a “two genders” government policy, dismantling Biden’s previous ‘X’ identity efforts on passports. “As of today, I will hence force be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female.” Trump also said that he will sign an order to “keep men out” today to ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports.
The release of Israeli captives in Gaza was also mentioned in his speech, released just prior to his inauguration. “I am pleased to say that as of yesterday, one day before I assumed office, the hostages in the Middle East are coming back home to their families,” he added.
Trump also announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” and to restore the name of Mount McKinley in honor of President William McKinley. “We will restore the name of a great president, William McKinley, to Mount McKinley,” he stated.
The 47th President outlined a vision for space exploration, pledging to launch astronauts to Mars. “We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the stars and stripes on the planet Mars,” he said.
A significant action taken by President Trump on his first day back in office was the issuance of pardons and commutations for approximately 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot. Trump characterized the rioters as “patriots” who were unfairly treated by the Justice Department.
The inauguration was attended by notable figures, including former Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush, as well as communication platforms and tech industry leaders Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, seated in the front row.
President Trump’s return to office comes with a slightly higher approval rating compared to his initial term, “Nothing will stand in our way because we are Americans. The future is ours, and the Golden Age has just begun,” he said in his inaugural address, emphasizing a vision for America to be prosperous, proud, and unbeatable, asserting that the nation’s “golden age” was just beginning.
