BTS as Entertainer of The Year By Times Magazine
BTS has been taking the world by storm, they've added yet another achievement in their bag- Times Magazine announced them as their Entertainer of the Year.
BTS has had a phenomenal year, achievement after achievement, they have reached such a high that Times Magazine announced BTS as their Entertainer of the Year in 2020!
Times Magazine announced BTS as their Entertainer of the Year on Thursday, 10th December, alongside announcing Time’s Person of the Year.
Times Magazine cited BTS as Entertainer of the Year and said that they managed their global presence with such elegance. Using their leverage and massive fan base to support causes such as Black Lives Matter. BTS has been present in almost every other award show this year, with their No. 1 hit ‘Dynamite,’ the song has landed them with a Grammy nomination.
“There are times when I’m still taken aback by all the unimaginable things that are happening,” BTS member Suga told Time for an interview that accompanied the announcement. “But I ask myself, Who’s going to do this, if not us?”
Moreover, Time Executive Editor, Ben Goldberger, praised BTS by saying the reason they chose the South Korean K-pop Boyband as their Entertainer of the Year because of how efficiently they managed to create a connection with their fans even in times of a pandemic. “The communal experience of watching a show, being at a concert, it just dissipated out of thin air and BTS managed to forge a really rich connection with their audience around the world in spite of these barriers which fell many, many other acts,” he said.
Along with BTS as Entertainer of the Year, Times Magazine announced Lebron James as their Athlete of the Year. “He is the greatest basketball player of his generation, arguably of any generation. And he won a fourth title this year. That’s no small thing, but his true influence was what he did off of the court,” said Goldberger. “LeBron has had a remarkable influence across activism for athletes around the world.”
