Charles Dance was Disappointed by GOT Finale
Charles Dance, aka Tywin Lannister to GOT fans, has expressed his disappointment in the finale, stating that he would sign a petition to remake it.
Charles Dance, also known as Tywin Lannister to the Game of Thrones (GOT) fans, has expressed his disappointment in the finale of the show. In fact, he stated that if there was a petition to remake GOT’s finale, he would sign it.
GOT came to an end in 2019, with many fans demanding that the final season should be remade because it was extremely underwhelming. A Change.org petition has been raised regarding the remaking of season 8 – so far, more than 1.8 million people have signed it.
In an interview, Charles Dance gave the reason why he would sign such a petition regarding the GOT finale:
“I continued to watch the whole series even after I’d been killed off in the lavatory, because I just thought it’s a fantastic television show, you know. There were storylines [where] I wanted to know what was going to happen to these people! I know that the finale satisfied a lot of people. It also disappointed a lot of people, and I’m afraid I am in the latter camp.”
The actor believed that the biggest issue with the final season was Bran being appointed King of Westeros by the Great Council, even though the writers had done an excellent job until then.
“For the whole thing to end as a committee, I just thought, ‘Hmm, no,’” he said. “I would say I was somewhat underwhelmed by (that).”
Another actor from the series, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, also revealed that he would want to donate for the campaign itself. Coster had played Jaime Lannister in GOT.
“I think everyone had their own opinion,” Nikolaj Coster-Waldau said. “I find the world of fandom really interesting. Everyone wanted something specific and different from what they got. It’s a combination of – you imagine an ending; but also, I think if you’re a hardcore fan, it was really upsetting that it ended. You lived with this for eight seasons. I think there was a real fear that was going to go away.”
