Empowering Women With Dua-e-Reem

The new campaign by Reem Rice called Dua-e-Reem bridges the gap between society and gender bias in marriage with the hashtag #RotiSayKhayenChawal.

Dua-e-Reem, a campaign that talks about the journey of empowering women through a prayer. Women in our society are considered as a binding force of any marriage. They’re always under this rock called pressure that they have to carry. The pressure of keeping a marriage together, forgetting every mistake and moving on for the sake of it. Women have to compromise at many stages if we talk about the majority. In the end, sometimes, the outcome isn’t always expected.

We’re so used to seeing broken relationships, marriages to be particular. There comes a point when either one of them just wants a break in life from all the chaos going on, it’s mostly because they’re intaking too much pressure and responsibilities. Most of the time, it’s women who feel this way because they’re just giving and not getting a lot in return.

Dua-e-Reem

In a marriage or any other relationship, both the genders have to compromise at different stages. It’s exactly what Dua-e-Reem aims to spread – the message of respect, love and care. Relationships always require give and take and both should be considerate at every point.

Not everyone is the same and it’s essential to find out that balance, which creates an equilibrium and puts both at ease. Yes, marriage is all about give and take, but who says you can’t have a successful one without love and care. You reap what you sow. If you give love and respect then that’s what you shall receive.

This campaign seeks to create an awareness that marriage is still a beautiful bond between two people. Hence, both should realize the importance of their own roles and act upon them. The pressure of marriage shouldn’t always be on the woman. Understanding each other’s differences is what will make any marriage better.

Dua-e-Reem’s hashtag, #RotiSayKhayenChawal, also talks about understanding differences. As odd it may sound, the hashtag itself means that both genders are different. One might like roti and the other would prefer rice. However, you’ve got to learn to eat roti with rice to lead a successful and healthy married life. Accept each other with all the differences and learn to eat roti with rice, no matter how hard or odd it sounds.
