Ex-Intelligence Chief Faiz Hameed in Military Custody as Court Martial Proceedings Begin.

Former intelligence chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has been placed in military custody, and proceedings for his court martial have begun in connection with the Top City housing scheme scandal, according to a statement from the army’s media wing on Monday.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a press release stating, “In compliance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s orders, the Pakistan Army conducted a detailed inquiry to review the allegations made against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) in the Top City case.”

The release continued: “As a result, disciplinary measures have been initiated under the Pakistan Army Act against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd). Furthermore, several violations of the Pakistan Army Act post-retirement have been confirmed, leading to the initiation of a Field General Court Martial. Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been taken into military custody.”

The military reportedly established an inquiry committee in April to investigate claims of abuse of authority by the former head of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). The committee, which is led by a serving major general, was formed in response to the Supreme Court’s directives and the Ministry of Defiance’s guidance.
