Flood Help Will Now Be Online To Maintain Integrity
The flood victims' help and the reinstatement of the services will now be online to ensure transparency with the locals of Pakistan.
In accordance with the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the state’s flood relief aid and distribution activity will now be run virtually with the Digital Flood Dashboard in an effort to maintain openness.
The choice was made on Saturday during a conference the premier presided over. The general public will receive information via the digital dashboard regarding the financial aid and humanitarian supplies that are being sent to and allocated among many of the displaced people.
The dashboard, which contains all the information on relief efforts, as well as the receipt and distribution of aid, was explained to the prime minister during the meeting. In addition, news outlets and the general public will be updated about the aid efforts.
The Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) and other well-known auditing firms will assess the money given to flood victims to promote accountability, the prime minister further declared. He also urged for hastening the repair of roads, bridges, and the electrical grid while reviewing the reinstatement of services in the impacted districts. He oversaw the fulfilment of the victims’ essential goods.
In the meantime, Miftah Ismail, the federal minister of finance and revenue, said that the government had allocated Rs70 billion for the relief and recovery of flood victims.
Miftah Ismail assured the media that an additional Rs50 billion will be given to the impacted individuals following a meeting with All Pakistan Textile Mills Association office holders. Every dollar brought in from overseas, he declared, will be subject to both internal and external audits. He added that 33 million people were presently sleeping outside and that Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, was working 24 hours a day to hasten their early recuperation.
Khawaja Saad Rafique, the federal minister for railroads, expressed gratitude to all the nations that supported Pakistan through its difficult time.
APTMA chairman Dr Gohar Ejaz announced that the group would also give flood refugees 150,000 ration packets.
On the other side, 12 more persons passed away on Sunday in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of flood-related deaths in Sindh to 621.
Police initiated Plan B on Sunday after floods destroyed the Chak-Nizam bridge, Dadu’s first line of defence. Under this plan, a dyke is being built along the Burda Canal’s embankments to safeguard the city. Officials added that severe flooding from the Manchar Lake had broken the Dadu ring bund and posed a threat to the city. They also said heavy gear was being utilised to erect a dyke up to 15 feet high.
During another round of flooding, thousands of terrified residents fled Dadu, adding to the growing amount of displaced families. As the water level in Manchar Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the country keeps rising, the district has been engulfed in floodwaters, leaving only one way for the population to flee the city. Rising floodwaters have destroyed the city’s initial line of defence, forcing the administration—supported by army troops—to fortify the residual river banks.
