Forecast Of Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Throughout Pakistan
The NDMA has forecasted pre-monsoon rain starting all across Pakistan from today. PMD also cautioned KPK and neighbouring regions about landslides.
The NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) issued advice on Monday urging all departments involved to be aware and watchful as a series of severe rain that will begin across the country these days.
According to a Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) statement, a series of heavy rains with gusts and thundershowers will begin today in the northern and middle areas of the nation and will last till Wednesday.
The PMD has cautioned of landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as floods in streams, rivers, and low-lying regions.
The National Disaster Management Authority has also asked residents of low-lying regions to be vigilant and report any type of crisis promptly.
The advice directs all agencies involved to protect advertisements signs and outdoor billboards against the impacts of storms.
Due to the massive risk of urban flooding in cities, the NDMA has ordered the procurement of petroleum supplies for backup generators at municipal pumping stations, as well as the prompt deployment of de-watering machines.
The PMD (Pakistan Meteorological Department) issued a meteorological advisory the day before, projecting that areas of Sindh will see the first period of pre-monsoon showers on June 21-22 as a result of the expansion of a western wave and moist southwestern breezes.
Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur will experience rain, dust, and thunderstorms on the night of June 21-22, while Jamshoro, Dadu, Qambar-Shahdadkot, and Shikarpur, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, and Umerkot will experience rain, dust, and thunderstorms on the night of June 22-23.
Furthermore, on June 22, Karachi may have an intermittent dust storm and moderate rain.
