On 23rd March, a lockdown was announced all over Sindh. Sindh was the first province in Pakistan, who took timely measures in fighting the disease. However, even then, today Sindh has been effected the most concerning deaths. And if one looks at the number of cases in Sindh, most of the cases have been reported from Karachi. Out of 1,518 cases from Sindh, 1,003 cases are from Karachi. The government had imposed lockdown in the beginning only. It was for the people of Karachi to cooperate with the government. Moreover, this lack of cooperation doesn’t only harm them, but also the surrounding people.
According to the Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, “The death rate has increased from 2.1% to 2.3% in the province.” He furthermore added, Out of the 1,518 cases recorded in the province, 1,003 are from Karachi. 328 cases have been reported from District East, 90 from West, 229 from South, 180 from Central, 79 from Malir and 97 from Korangi,”
This shows how incompetent the people of Karachi are. Regardless of the lockdown and the orders given by the government, the people are breaching it again and again. And that has failed Sindh from getting one step ahead of Coronavirus. A disease, which could have been prevented is now eating the whole of the country.
The problem is, Pakistan doesn’t have the resources to fight the odds. On one hand, where they are not treating Doctors well, they are also not helping those in isolation centers much. Nevertheless, if the situation gets out of hands, it’s over for Pakistan. We hope our government understands that. Moreover, it is equally important for the citizens to understand the gravity of the situation and stay back at home before we witness more deaths all across the country.
