Fashion Pakistan Week 2018- Winter Festive
Fashion Pakistan Week has readily been established as one of the most significant events taking place in Pakistan when it comes down to the fashion industry. It has been an ongoing event since a span of two years, and has been amping up the fashion game to above par excellence.
The winter festive show lasted a period of three days. Seven designers displayed their work on each day; with a total of fourteen designers showcasing their collection on two days. The third day was a solo show by the maestro Deepak Perwani.
Day One
Tena Durrani
The show started off with a stunning collection by Tena Durrani, leaning more towards the traditional side, coupled with heavy embellishments tri-tone ranging from rich reds to regal golds.

The showstopper Fauzia Aman donned a beautiful lehenga choli in gold; with hints of green and purple which further accentuated the entire look of the outfit.
Huma Adnan
The designs in Huma Adnan’s bridal wear consisted of simple and sophisticated designs. The entire look of the model, and not solely the outfit was a key element in making this designers collection a unique onel including the heavily laden jewelry which was in accordance with the attire of the models, following a similar color theme.

The pop of cobalt blue in some pieces of the collection was also a great addition. The showstopper Sarah Khan donned a regal maroon sharara with intricate embroidery, with a belted today bringing together the entire look; which was a sure-shot statement piece from the showcase.
Lajwanti
Rivaaj presented by Ana Ali was an epitome of traditional elegance, itconsisted mainly of pastels and rather muted colors but still caught our eye with the glitz and sparkle of the dresses. Silver, peach and mint greens were the focus of the color palette of Lajwanti.

There were two celebrity showstoppers, which got the crowd raving; Sana Javed who donned a gold lehnga choli and Imran Abbas dressed in a creamy white sherwani with detailed embroidery.
Zainab Chottani
Zainab Chottanis rather dreamy collection ‘Khwab’, indeed did justice to its name and the collection consisted of rather soft hues and silhouettes with tones of pinks, silver and ivory.

However, the dress which stood out from the rest was the black and silver number with trendy cuts worn by Mehreen Syed who was the showstopper for Zainab Chottani. Most of the dresses, though following a similar colour scheme, all possessed different styles and cuts and hence catered to a greater number of people.
Aamna Aqeel
Aamna Aqeel’s collection ‘Dazzling dames’ provided a break from the heavily embroidered bridal wear, onto something a bit more minimalistic.

Embroidery was present but not done to death, there was a bit of detail at the neckline or the lower bottoms, along with the bows in some dresses which was enough to make a statement, but nothing over the top. The color palette was black and red. Kubra khan, the showstopper wore a black silk dress with gold detailing and flare. This was a rather elegant collection, which definitely made a mark at Fashion Week.
The Pink Tree Company
One of the most stunning dresses presented at Day one of fashion week was showcased by The Pink Tree company ‘Gulabi Gang’ which, coupled with an awe-inspiring message behind the collection, added more meaning to it.

With a strong opening given prior to the show by their showstopper who wore a traditional block-printed pink saari, Sheema Kirmani, left the audience with something to think about. Staying true to its name ‘Gulabi Gang’ the collection encapsulated hues and tones of pink in their dresses with zarri and gota work being largely incorporated in all their dresses. Another element which made all the models seem quite distinctive was the Pink Sindoor.
Hassan Sheheryar Yasin
One of the collections, which highlighted both men and women couture was ‘Elements’ by Hasan Shehreyar Yasin which concluded day one of Fashion Pakistan Week with dapper suits and a classic color palette for men comprising of brown, white and blue.

This collection had a sleek and prim design, incorporating earthy tones. Bilal Ashraf and Junaid Khan were the showstoppers of the show. Bilal Ashraf was dressed in a crisp white suit. The attention to detail was highly evident too; the accessorizing of the models-from sunglasses and gloves, to even the bags they all left a lasting impact on the audience in giving a distinguished feel about the Elements showcase.

Day Two
Wardha Saleem
Fashion Pakistan Week day two, kicked off with Wardha Saleem’s collection Chandbala, with Azfer Rehman and Sohai Ali Abro as the showstoppers. Sohai was clad in a colorful pastel lehnga which had pink and powder blue tones, adorned with gold embroidered work on both the lehnga and choli.

The fanatics with which this designer began the show with, really got the crowd hooked especially the live music by Mai Dhai. A rather colorful collection sticking close to traditions. Our personal favorite was the spin-off on the traditional saree. If you’re looking for a collection with an extensive color palette, perfect for wedding season this collection is a definite go-to.
Sara Rohale Asghar
Fleur De Luxe, a bridal and formal collection which showcased dresses with intricate detailing and heavy embroidery.A modern take on the ancient aesthetic of flower extravagance.
This collection was big on silver and gold embroidered work done on pastels and hues of maroon and purple. There were a few standout pieces such as this maroon number but some dresses were also a bit too overdone with excessive work on both the top and bottom-which never go too well together.
Deepak & Fahad
Zartaab a collection rather distinctive from the designer’s previous collections which have a rather abstract feel to them. This showcase presented a classic color palette with black, gold, and white. Along with Sleek and prim designs which had an edge to them.
Maheen Karim
Next up was the collection by Maheen Khan, Lueur De Luxe incorporating poppy pink and oranges extensively in her entire range. The designer was big on parading out a range of clothes which were definite to make a mark on the ramp.

From kaftans to form-fitting gowns coupled with quirky cuts, frills, and capes. Some heavily embellished kaftans to digital printed ones were some of our top picks from the range. If one needs an outfit that will wow the crowd Maheen Karim is the designer for you!
Rano’s Heirloom
This collection won our hearts instantly, it stuck to traditional Pakistani roots which they deem is the sole inspiration behind their work. This was clearly reflecting in the collection being showcased.

Timeless works of embroidery, classic cuts and flares were all seen in this range. An array of vibrant shades were present in this designers color palette which made it all the more tasteful and appealing to look at.
Shahmeer Ansari
Shahmeer Ansari’s debut show featuring his menswear collection-Sastre culture at Pakistan fashion week winter festive created the impact we had hoped for. Beyond Generations had extremely an impressive combination of colors.

Ranging from Wedding outfits to work attire, all were encapsulated in the collection which defined the journey of a man. Adding to it was a twist on the tuxedo and suit in classic black and white, worn by none other than YBK who was the showstopper for Shahmeer Ansari.
Maheen Khan
The show ended with Maheen Khan’s collection which was a breath of fresh air combining both the modern age look while not completely diverting from tradition.

A collection which was out of the box and extremely innovative, with silk silhouettes being styled in an extremely chic manner. The designer never fails to wow the audience and this time around the stunning pieces showcased by the designer spoke for themselves.
