In recent tweets, Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh announced that in these trying times they will be donating to the Shahid Afridi Foundation to tackle COVID-19.

While this may seem like a friendly gesture to most of us, both Harbhajan and Yuvraj faced a lot of backlash from their fans for supporting Afridi’s Foundation.
Shame On You For Supporting Enemy Of India. Thoo.

After seeing the backlash, Yuvraj posted an apology on Twitter, stating:
I really don’t understand how a message to help the most vulnerable gets blown out of proportion! All I tried to achieve via that message was to help people in our respective countries by providing healthcare. My intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m an Indian and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity.

Shahid Afridi, along with other cricketers, thanked and supported both Harbhajan and Yuvraj for donating to the Afridi Foundation.
Thank you for all you support-both yourself & my brother @harbhajan_singh are huge pillars of support; this bond we have shows love & peace transgresses borders when it comes to humanity especially. Best wishes to you with your noble endeavours with @YOUWECAN #DonateKaroNa https://t.co/IVhqywdl3q

It seems that people are not willing to put aside their differences even in the time when humanity needs to overcome any negativity. People need to stand together with people, regardless of their demographics. Cricketers all over the world are doing their part – Ahmad Shehzad’s work in Northern Pakistan is just one example along with Shahid Afridi.
