“You are sharing the Dark Lord’s thoughts and emotions. The Headmaster thinks it inadvisable for this to continue. He wishes me to teach you how to close your mind to the Dark Lord.”
In the dead of night, members of a secret society – The Order of the Phoenix – rescue Harry Potter from the Dursley Household. They take him to the hidden headquarters where members decide how to protect Harry during his fifth year at Hogwarts.
Before returning to school, Harry has a hearing at the Ministry of Magic to discuss his actions-when he used magic in front of a muggle while under the age of seventeen. Thanks to Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter is saved once again and allowed to continue at Hogwarts.
Though, the Headmaster is taciturn and preoccupied this year and not seeing him at school makes Harry curious about the old wizard’s whereabouts. Meanwhile, a new year at Hogwarts means a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. This year, with the approval of the Minister for Magic Dolores
Umbridge is taking over at Hogwarts.
“I know Umbridge by reputation and I’;m sure she’s no Death Eater-”
“She’s foul enough to be one…”
“Yes, but the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters.”
The Ministry is denying the return of Lord Voldemort and has Umbridge controlling the standards at Hogwarts. Young wizards and witches are no longer permitted to use magic! Instead, they must follow a number of nonsensical rules.
“… we’ve got to do something about her.”
“I suggested poison, said Ron grimly.”
Now, it is up to Harry and his friends to learn how to do defend themselves against Death Eaters and Voldemort. However, Harry must now learn legitimacy in order to keep the Dark Lord from invading his mind and taking full control of him.
Harry is all about learning new spells, especially those which come in handy during these dark times. The only problem is that his least favorite teacher has been requested to teach Harry how to control his thoughts-Professor Snape.
