Iman Vellani to Play Ms. Marvel for Disney Plus’ Series
Iman Vellani will play the role of Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel series, which will be released on Disney Plus by Marvel Universe.
Disney Plus has finally found its Ms. Marvel – Iman Vellani. Iman will be playing the role of Kamala Khan, who is the first American-Pakistani Muslim character in the Marvel Universe. Ms. Marvel will be Iman Vellani’s first project on such a huge scale where she’ll be the lead character. She hails from Canada and has recently participated in a Toronto International Film Festival committee.
Ms. Marvel, named as Kamala Khan, first appeared in 2014. It’s the story of a young girl based in New Jersey who looks up to Captain Marvel. In addition to appearing on the small screen, Kamala’s character will also be included in all the new Marvel Universe movies as mentioned by Kevin Feige.
Ms. Marvel is written by Bisha K. Ali and will be directed by Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Pakistani two-time oscar winner, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, will also be directing along with Meera Menon, who has directed episodes of The Walking Dead, The Punisher and Titans.
Iman Vellani isn’t well known to the public, but that was the plan of the creators. They wanted someone who could stay true to the character and perform exceptionally well, even if it meant to cast someone who wasn’t a familiar face to the viewers.
Kumail Nanjiani, who is a famous comedian and an actor, congratulated Iman Vellani on her success after the announcement of her being cast as Ms. Marvel. Mindy Kaling also tweeted to congratulate Iman.

Ms. Marvel isn’t the only show coming to Disney Plus from the Marvel Universe. The hype was created as the audience was looking forward to seeing who would be cast for the lead role and everyone is super excited after the announcement. However, Disney Plus will be releasing WandaVision by the end of December, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier also resumed productions this year. Tom Hiddleton’s Loki will also be released on Disney Plus but the production was only partially completed before coronavirus.
