Prime Minister Imran Khan will formally inaugurate Road to Makkah Project at Islamabad International Airport today.
Immigration and other formalities of pilgrims travelling to Makkah are being completed in Islamabad under this project. Special counters have been set up by Saudi Officials for this purpose.
This is a pilot project starting from Islamabad Airport and will extend to other airports of the country in following years. A Spokesperson of Ministry of Religious Affairs said this project is a gift from Saudi Arabia to Pakistani and 21,000 Hujjaj will benefit from this initiative. Pilgrims will go through customs and immigration process at the airport in Pakistan before leaving instead of waiting 10-12 hours after arriving in Saudi Arabia. He said The project also includes other countries, such as Indonesia and Malaysia
