Karachi Burns Road Becoming Traffic-Free
The most famous food district in Karachi, Burns Road, has been announced to become traffic-free by the government so pedestrians can enjoy the food easily.
Karachi’s famous food district, Burns Road, has been announced to stay traffic-free during the evening for pedestrians to provide a better and relaxed environment for visitors at the eateries that are in the area and avoid inconvenience.
According to the officials, a notification issued by the additional deputy commissioner II announced the implementation of the fresh orders from January 10th (Sunday). According to the fresh orders, no vehicle will be allowed to enter Burns Road after 7 pm allocating evening time to pedestrians only.
“A notification has been issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner II, according to which the decision will take effect from January 10,” said the official. “The notification says that [Shahrah-i-Liaquat] from Fresco to Court Road, will be closed for vehicles at 7 pm and traffic coming from Arambagh will be diverted to M.A. Jinnah Road and People’s Square. Similarly, the road from Fresco Chowk to Fatima Jinnah Women’s College would be designated for pedestrians, whereas residents of Burns Road will be issued special stickers for their vehicles to enter.”
A portion of the Burns Road area will also be dedicated to deal with any unforeseen emergencies. The district administration on Jan 10th is going to mark both sides of the road, enabling the food outlets to extend their operations in a way that did not block the way for pedestrians and opening the gateway to Karachi’s oldest and largest food street!
Burns Road is known for its authentic, affordable, and traditional food street. People from all over the city make sure to visit the area to be able to be a part of the ‘true Karachi food experience!’
However, it was a task to be able to get to Burns Road and then get out because of the small streets and immense congestion of traffic, with the government issuing a no-vehicle and traffic-free rule, it is going to make eating out a lot easier and enjoyable!
