What people intended as a night of festive shopping, family fun, and pre-Eid celebration unexpectedly turned chaotic on Wednesday evening. The heavy rains and gale‑force winds battered the city, disrupting a Chand Raat events in Karachi.
The storm, part of a broader severe weather system affecting Sindh, brought sudden downpours and strong gusts that wreaked havoc on the open‑air gathering.
This year, multiple organized events promised a vibrant night of celebration, shopping, food, and entertainment, Commons and Locate Bazaar offering a lively market atmosphere filled with stalls, mehndi artists, and live performances
Commons Karachi
Although Commons Karachi hosted a vibrant and energetic bazaar, an unexpected rain storm disassembled the entire event. The debris was flying everywhere, the light polls fell and all the stalls came trembling down.
Due to the prevailing situation, they cancelled the event that was supposed to be held on March 18th and 19th. They issued a statement postponing it until further notice.

The Vendors — most of who were first timers, had to endure a heavy financial loss. Attendees had to seek shelter as debris from food and jewelry stalls was swept up by the wind
This is unfortunately not the first time rain has caused chaos in Karachi, and it probably won’t be the last. As the city tries to recover from yet another heavy downpour, many people worry about what the next monsoon season will bring. Flooded streets, damaged homes, and disrupted lives are becoming all too familiar for residents of Pakistan’s largest city.
