On Sunday, Chief Minister, Usman Buzdar, inaugurated the Lahore Orange Line Train project, it is the country’s first electricity-run form of public transport. The service is said to be launched today, 26th October.
As Radio Pakistan states, the Lahore Orange Line Train is said to have 26 stations and tracks that cover over 27.12 km. The system is said to provide the people with an easy and affordable way of transportation while also reducing traffic jams on Multan Road.
The Lahore Orange Line Trains will be able to carry up to 250,000 people daily. “Orange Line Metro Train is the first transport project under CPEC which is also a symbol of Pakistan-China friendship and a gift for the people of Lahore,” read a statement on Radio Pakistan.
Moreover, the Orange Line Trains are supposed to operate from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm with the fare being for a one-way trip being Rs. 40. Authoritative figures from China have trained the Pakistani drivers on how to operate the trains efficiently while Lahore Waste
Management will be responsible for the cleanliness of the trains.
This project has been undergoing for the past five years, and many are saying that the experts behind this idea are behind bars today. PMLN leaders claim that the Lahore Orange Line Train was the creation of the previous Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif.
“The government had been thinking all along not to give credit of the Orange Line train project to Nawaz Sharif,” said Ayaz Sadiq. As he further went on to criticize the metro buses in Peshawar, he claims that the buses do not operate properly, they tend to work and then stop.
The conversation quickly took a turn from praising the Lahore Orange Line Train project into a rant against the current government. Sadiq was quick to transition and urge the Lahore public to join forces with them in the PDM jalsa against Imran Khan.
