Lionel Messi, the Six time Ballon D’or winner has left Barcelona in tears after Sunday press conference.
“My family and I were convinced that we were going to stay here, at home.” says Messi in tears.
He was the clubs star player since the past 21 years. Lionel Messi has been a free agent since his contract expired on June 30th. Barca go on to say that they cannot afford the Argentinean superstar.
Therefore Messi had agreed on reducing his salary by 50% just to stay, and play for the club that he gew up with. Unfortunately they couldn’t re-sign Messi due to the limit issue with La Liga, so Messi had no other choice but to leave the club in tears.
It came as shock to all the Barca fans, that Messi will no longer play in the club. No one had ever thought Messi would leave Barca, it breaks the heart of every single fan that the superstar couldn’t end his career where he started it.

The French club have offered Messi a formal 2-year contract and Messi and his team are now considering it thoroughly before making any moves.
At Sunday’s farewell press conference Lionel Messi, Messi was asked if he wanted to join PSG or other interesting clubs and he said, “There is a possibility that the contract is final, but I have other interesting clubs coming forward. At this stage I can not say anything about where I will take my talents.

With 2 of the biggest football superstars, the addition of Messi will make them unstoppable. Neymar JR, a player who was a former teammate of Lionel Messi back in Barcelona and the protege Kylian Mbappe, would make a killer trio. Players like Angel Di Maria are Lionel Messi’s international teammates, so there is not doubt he will feel at home in Paris.
Another club that was interested on signing Lionel Messi were Manchester City, they were negotiating a deal with Messi and his team last summer after his falling out with Barca. They ended up signing Jack Grealish earlier this week, for 100m. There are few clubs that can accquire Messi, but Paris seems to be the favourite at the moment.

The fans would’ve have loved to see the superstar retire at Barcelona, and it hurts everyone to see him go. He has done great things for this club and played his way into the hearts of the fans.
