Marriage hall owners in the city have set an ultimatum for the Punjab government to allow them to operate by June 15. Mian Ilyas, the president of Lahore Marriage Hall Association (LMHA), remarked that if the government does not give permission, marriage hall owners will open their businesses on their own after the ultimatum. This decision comes after the press conference done by stand up comedians to open theatres in Lahore.
LMHA’s president pointed out that June 15 will be exactly 3 months after the government had imposed a ban on marriage halls.
“The government imposed a ban on marriage halls on March 15. We are ready to implement all standard operating procedures (SOPs) announced by the government. We are left with no other option but to open our businesses as it has become impossible for marriage hall owners to retain their employees.”
It is reported that the representatives of the LMHA have voluntarily presented a set of SOPs to the government for the safety of their guests during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, it should be noted that Lahore is considered as the epicentre of COVID-19 in Pakistan, and that whatever decision is taken by the government will impact people greatly there.
Should the government allow marriage halls to be open after the ultimatum given by the Lahore Marriage Hall Association? Let us know in the comments.
