In her recent tweets, the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump has encouraged the residents of the US to wear face masks, while President of the United States Donald Trump has stated that he will not be wearing one.
In her recent tweets, the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump has encouraged the residents of the US to wear face masks, while President of the United States Donald Trump has stated that he will not be wearing one. She has posted pictures of herself wearing one as well. She has cited CDC’s studies, which recommend that people should wear “cloth face coverings in public settings” when social distancing is difficult to practice. However, she has emphasised that wearing a face mask does NOT replace the importance of social distancing.

Additionally, First Lady Melania Trump also released a PSA related to the matter, stating that wearing face mask is a “recommended guideline that keep us all safe”.

While the FLOTUS has been emphasising on CDC’s recommendation, President Donald Trump has stated that he will not be wearing a mask. “I just don’t want to wear one myself, it’s a recommendation. Somehow sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful Resolute Desk, the great Resolute Desk, I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, dictators, kings, queens, I don’t know, I don’t see it for myself.”
Melania has been tweeting on the matter since Sunday, writing, “I ask that everyone take social distancing & wearing a mask/face covering seriously. #COVID19 is a virus that can spread to anyone.” When asked about her tweets, President Trump stated,”It’s good, no, she feels that way. She likes the idea of wearing it, yeah she does. A lot of people do. Again, it’s a recommendation, and I understand that recommendation, and I’m okay with it.”
