MiTE 04th Annual Job Fair
MiTE and TMUC conducted their annual job fair which was quite a success with a panel discussion including renowned group CEOs and a pool of students attending.
It’s no secret that Pakistan’s financial situation has been tumbling since last year. And the unemployment rate has significantly risen in the last two to three years. According to the statistics, Pakistan’s unemployment rate in 2021 was 4.4% whereas it significantly increased to 6.50% in 2022.
However, there are different companies that are still offering amazing internship programs to students who are still enrolled in education systems or have graduated recently. To promote such positions, more than 75 companies came together at MiTE 04th Annual Career Counseling Clinics and Job Fair that took place at their Karachi Campus on March 9th of 2023. The companies that came on board included big names like Parco, Martin Dow, KPMG, J., Sana Safinaz, K electric etc.
The event kicked off with a Panel Discussion led by industry experts who talked about the future of the employment sector and the impact of the current economic situation. The panellists of this uplifting discussion were Hasan Azhar (Group CEO- HRSG), Isfandyar Inayat (GM – The Citizens Foundation), Shahrukh Masood (Group director HR & Corporate Communications – Martin Dow), Hena Sadiq (Partner Audit & Assurance – Yousuf Adil) and Dr Muhammad Farhan Bukhari from The Department of Business and Management Sciences at MiTE.
Key topics that were discussed at the MiTE Job Fair were the economic challenges faced by Pakistan which also included the repercussions of the recent flooding that took place in the Northern areas of Pakistan along with the continued policy and political uncertainty in the country. It was also discussed that in times like these, what is the scope and future of employment opportunities in our country? And what is each obstacle presenting with it an opportunity as well as what opportunities can individuals tap into?
According to one of the reports issued by the World Economic Forum, the workforce is automating faster than expected, displacing 85 million jobs in the next five years. So, what is the skill set that the students and professionals must acquire to pave way for the bright prospects of our country? The panellists were able to enlighten the audience with their sheer wisdom and experience and inspired the youth with their enthralling words. It was further added to the discussion that the students should focus on skills which cannot be performed by AI so that machines do not replace us in the future completely.
The event was covered by Geo News which also had their casting call for the newscasters as part of their hiring process. Having a pool of skilled and talented youngsters, the auditions were a delight to watch and the students were thrilled to be a part of it.
Since MiTE and TMUC believe in talent and holistic learning, they constantly give students the chance to learn, grow, and enhance their skill set so they can adapt to a world that is constantly changing. This job fair was an opportunity for students and graduates to learn about the challenging economy of our country as well as get a look into it and the companies which are sustaining their stand in such situations too. A great way for students and alumni to connect with potential employers, learn about job opportunities, and gain valuable experience with networking and professional communication.
Runway was a proud media and advertising partner for MiTE 4th Annual Job Fair. With Runway’s mission to socialize the world and the mission of MiTE to connect, this partnership was quite successful in finding students and professionals the jobs they are suited for in this challenging economy.
