When asked about the upcoming series against England, Naseem Shah warned the team to not underestimate him due to his age.

Teenage sensation Naseem Shah has been gaining recognition for his debut performance against Australia. When asked about the upcoming series against England, Naseem Shah warned the team to not underestimate him.

While he knows only one player from England’s team – Test captain and skipper Joe Root – from the test squad, Naseem Shah does not want the other team to think that he is just a little child.

“If they treat me like a small kid, it will be their big loss,” the young pacer stated. “Age doesn’t matter, it’s my bowling that matters – so they need to take me seriously.”

He will most likely be paired with Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has been playing in all formats since 2018.

Born in Lower Dir in 2003, Naseem Shah debuted against Australia in the 2019 Test series. This made him the ninth youngest player to make a debut in the Test format.

He is also the youngest fast bowler to take five wickets in Test format in the series against Sri Lanka in December 2019. In the first Test against Bangladesh in February 2020, he became the youngest bowler to take a hat-trick in a Test match.

On September 1 in 2018, Naseem Shah made his first-class debut for the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in the 2018-19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy; he made his List A debut on October 16 in the same year for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in the 2018-19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup.

He was named in the emerging roster for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Quetta Gladiators in 2018, and has been an active member since. Shah was a star to watch out for in the 2020 PSL series.

In 2019, he became a part of the Central Punjab cricket team for the 2019-20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Shah made his T20 debut on 13 October 2019, for Central Punjab in the 2019-20 National T20 Cup.

Naseem Shah had been initially named for Pakistan’s U-19 team; however looking at his performance in the Test matches, his name had been withdrawn.
