Nominations For The Golden Globe Have Come Out
Amidst all the controversy surrounding it, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominations for the 79th Golden Globes.
The nominations for the 79th Golden Globes were revealed on Monday but the reception has been quite cold. This perhaps can be attributed to the controversy that surrounds the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The controversies include the unethical practices of accepting gifts from major production houses in exchange for nominations. The HFPA also has been battling the long accusation of having a lack of diversity among their ranks.
The revelation of all these controversial practices led to many celebrities and studios disassociating with the event. It also led to the HFPA revamping its policies to stamp out such malpractices. They have also included people of color into their association.
Despite the controversies, the nominations for this next year Golden Globes has created a buzz online. The films “Belfast” and “The Power of the Dog” have earned seven nominations including Best Film.
In terms of the acting department, some of the best performers of the year such as Lady Gaga, Kristen Stewart and Will Smith earned their fair due. They all received nominations for their impeccable performances in the Best Performance In A Motion Picture- Drama category.
When it comes to the television portion of the awards, “Succession” leads the nominations with 5. Some notable performers who have been nominated include Lee Jung-jae. He is nominated in the Best Actor in a Television Series- Drama category for his role in “Squid Games”.
