Pakistan Fought Back Well Against India In The First Asia Cup Match
Although India won the first match of the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan did not go down without a fight. With a target of 148, Dahani and Naseem Shah won hearts.
Hardik Pandya excelled with bat and ball as India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in a final over of the Asia Cup T20 game at the Dubai Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
Trying to get 148 for the win, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya, combined on a crucial 5th wicket partnership of 52 as India won with two shots at hand.
Fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pandya shared 7 wickets as India knocked down Pakistan for 147 in their initial encounter.
Pandya, who bowled medium-pace stats of 3-25, eventually stayed calm to knock the victory six in a tight attempt in the six-nation event, which serves as a warm-up for the T20 World Cup that is supposed to happen in Australia in October-November.
The was also Virat Kholi’s 100th T20 international match. India lifted up their winning percentage over Pakistan to 8-2 after losing by 10 wickets during T20 World Cup last year at the same stadium.
Pakistan’s debutant fast bowler, Naseem Shah, stuck out with statistics of 2-27, but an injury in the final few overs of the final innings had him hobbling as India grabbed command with the fifth-wicket batting combo of Jadeja and Pandya.
Nawaz’s left-arm spinning took Virat Kohli for 35 following dismissing of skipper Rohit Sharma for 12.
Rahul was bowled for zero by Naseem as the opening pulled a fastball onto his wickets.
Two balls after, Naseem almost had Kohli out, but Fakhar Zaman dropped the ball missing the wicket.
Kohli, who has been struggling with mental health issues and has lately spoken about them, survived initial nervousness and appeared to find his stride with a couple of impressive boundaries, along with a wristy smash over mid-on before he was dismissed by Nawaz.
Initially, Kumar established India’s control by dismissing skipper Babar Azam with10 within the 2nd over of the first inning and finishing with figures of 4-26.
Pandya’s 3 wickets shook Pakistan’s middle order, especially paceman wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who had scored 43 off 42 balls.
Kumar reappeared in the last over to capture 2 wickets in 2 balls but was prevented a hat-trick by Shahnawaz Dahani.
In six balls Dahani scored two sixes prior to getting dismissed by Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm medium-pace bowler who grabbed 2 wickets as Pakistan’s batting was finished in 19.5 overs.
