Pakistan has conveyed a proposal from United States to Iran. Either Pakistan or Turkiye could be the location to ease the rising tensions of the war that has disturbed that global energy markets. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed Islamabad’s readiness to host US-Iran talks. US President Donald Trump shared his statement on his Truth Social platform.
Reports indicate that Pakistan is mediating peace between the United States and Iran and has proposed hosting U.S.-Iran peace talks if they progress to that stage
It has been reported that Pakistan’s army Chief Field Marshall Gen. Asim Munir spoke to U.S to Trump on Sunday about the ongoing war in Gulf, and carried forward the idea that Pakistan has put itself forward as an option to host US-Iran talks between senior Trump administration officials and Iranian officials as part of its diplomatic efforts.

Why Pakistan Chose To Intervene?
Pakistan has proposed to host US-Irans talks because it has a stable relationship with its neighboring country, Iran and also maintains a strong partnership with United States. Apart from just having good relations with both the sides, Pakistan has played the role of a mediator since 1992, after the two countries (US & Iran) severed relations in 1980.
The Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran handles Iran’s diplomatic matters in the United States. This arrangement allows Iran a diplomatic foothold in the U.S. despite severed official relations.
Pakistan leverages its political and military connections with the United States to maintain a balanced foreign policy. This dual-track approach enables Islamabad to engage with major powers, including China, without becoming fully dependent on or aligned with any single side. This is why Islamabad is an ideal venue to host US-Iran talks.

Iran’s position: rejection, but not closure.
Statements from an official, who requested anonymity, offered a rare indication that Tehran might be open to reviewing diplomatic initiatives. Even though it has publicly rejected the idea of negotiating with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
Later, however, reports indicated that Iran had issued an unfavorable response to Trump’s 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran via Pakistan. Iran sets out five specific conditions that would need to be met before it would consider bringing the conflict to an end. These 5 conditions include
- A complete end to aggression by the enemy.
- A guarantee that war will not be reimposed on Islamic Republic
- Clearly defined payment of war damages and compensations.
- The conclusion of the war across all fronts and for all resistance groups involved throughout the region
- Recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over Strait of Hormuz.
The official further noted that “The end of the war will occur when Iran decides it should end, not when Trump envisions its conclusion,”
Iran's conditions to end the war: end to aggression by the enemy, concrete guarantees preventing the recurrence of war, clear determination, guaranteed payment of war damages and compensation, comprehensive end to the war across all fronts, incl. against all resistance groups,…

Chances Of Peace In The Future.
On Monday, Trump publicized a five-day halt on all strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing “very good and productive” talks with Tehran over the past two days.
But Iranian officials rejected claims of talks, calling them “fake news” but its Foreign Ministry has admitted receiving messages from “friendly countries” that it said indicated requests for talks by the U.S.
For Now, Islamabad remains a suggestion of peace rather a confirmation to host US-Iran talks. It requires corroboration from both the sides to make an effort.
