After contracting the deadly virus, the Pakistan cricket team was kept in managed isolation in New Zealand. Now, after their quarantine is complete and the players tested negative they have been allowed to leave isolation to begin preparing for the Twenty20 and Test series against New Zealand.
All members of the Pakistan team tested negative on their 12th or 14th day and were allowed to travel to the South Island Resort of Queenstown, where they will train as a group.
The team was allowed to train in small groups at first, however, due to several violations and players mixing and sharing food together- the permission was revoked. As soon as members of the Pakistan team tested positive they were moved into quarantine in their hotels.
The Pakistan team players were not released until officially tested negative. “One case will remain in the Christchurch quarantine facility until fully recovered,” the ministry said in a statement. “One person repeatedly tested negative and is being released from the Auckland quarantine facility today, where they had been transferred on arrival as a precaution.”
“After extensive testing and completion of their time in managed isolation in Christchurch, the medical officer of health is satisfied these people pose a very low risk to the community,” the ministry said.
Furthermore, Pakistan team cricketer, Shadab Khan posted a picture of himself and his teammates enjoying time together after quarantine.

Moreover, Pakistan team former captain, Misbah, announced that the isolation was a tough time for the players. “Top professional athletes require a certain environment to prepare so that they can perform at the minimum expected levels every time they represent their countries,” Misbah said in a statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
However, he did say that the Pakistan team understands New Zealand’s need to be so careful with testing amidst the pandemic, but now that it is over they are looking forward to training and performing exceptionally.
“There is no denying the fact that the implementation of certain regulations has affected the Pakistan team, both mentally and physically prior to an international series,” Misbah said. “I want to compliment my players and the management team for their patience, sacrifices, and the hardships they have endured to ensure they not only lead the safe resumption of international cricket during the Covid-19 pandemic but also try to give their best every time they step on the field.”
