Pamper Yourself With These Homemade Face Masks

Pamper yourself with these extremely easy DIY homemade face masks that take no time for prep and make you feel relaxed after application.

I like to give myself some ‘me time’ whenever I’m feeling too exhausted or stressed out. It’s a great way to relax and unwind. I feel like everyone should take out some time for themselves in a week at least and give yourself a pampering session. A lot of women like to splurge at salons and that’s totally fine but the peace you find at home is unmatchable. That’s why I try to do most of the things on my own and what’s better than creating your own face mask.

I feel like a magician with all these different ingredients which are combined to create a potion. The best part is that I know what I’m putting on my skin so it’s most likely to suit me. When you know what you’re adding so you try to be more careful and steer clear of things that don’t suit you. Hence, creating a perfect mask to target your needs. Here are a few recipes that I have tried and tested:

Get Rid of Acne with Turmeric

Turmeric is known as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient that does wonders. It can reduce acne and scars if used properly but using it without diluting it might not be a good idea. Try to mix it up with something soothing like milk or yogurt. It also helps in brightening the skin. The only downside is that it can also stain your skin so keep that in mind when you’re applying this face mask.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 tablespoon plain yogurt

Make a mixture of these ingredients and apply them to your face. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes until it’s completely dry and wash it off with lukewarm water. You can use this mask a couple of times a week as it’s not too harsh on your skin.

Exfoliating Face Mask

When I talk about exfoliation, I mean gentler and calmer exfoliation which does not involve any harsh ingredients. Hence, we’re opting for oatmeal. Oatmeal is gentler on the skin as compared to other ingredients that have a sharp or jagged exterior such as sugar. Sugar, salt and other such ingredients can lead to micro-tears on the surface of the skin and that’s something we need to avoid. If you want a finer texture of oatmeal then you can grind it and use it as a powder. Honey is soothing and rich in many antioxidants. It’s one of the oldest medicinal ingredients with many properties that add up to the betterment of the skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey

Mix these two ingredients and alter according to the texture of your preference. Apply it on your face for 10  to 15 minutes and let it do its magic. Gentle wash it off using circular motions and lukewarm water so it exfoliates the dead skin cells.

Control the Oil

As we live in a country that’s close to the equator, the weather gets quite hot and humid here. As a result, our skin produces way more sebum than it’s supposed to because we’re using a lot of chemicals to control it. I prefer natural ingredients that help me control the oil and stabilize my skin. Although I have combination skin but my t-zone gets super oily. You’ll only need very few ingredients for this mask and it’ll definitely make a difference.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons gram flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange peel powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons water

Mix these all together and apply it as a face mask 10 to 15 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water after it dries and pat dry with a washcloth. It’ll absorb all of the excess oils and leave your skin feeling fresh.
