Due to heightened military tensions, PIA halts flights to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai. The strikes, which targeted a US base outside Doha by Iran, led to the closure of airspace by countries including Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, who expressed concerns over the potential escalation of hostilities in the region.
Including PIA, Airlines have been diverting, cancelling, and delaying flights through the region due to airspace closures and safety concerns. Due to increased military tension between Iran and Israel, the airspace and flights have been heavily affected.
“The security and well-being of our passengers remain our foremost priority,” said a spokesperson for PIA. “We are closely monitoring the situation and will restore operations as soon as the security landscape allows.”
The announcement follows a closure of airspace by Qatar and Bahrain as Iran attacked the Al-Udeid US military base in Doha. PIA assures that, “Flights will resume after the situation returns to normal”
