Apart from the tons of behind the scenes drama on the set of 25th James Bond film, its easy to forget that Rami Malek is playing the on screen villain but that too was possible because the film makers agreed to his non negotiable request about the character. The Egyptian actor Rami Malek revealed that before accepting his role as a villain in the new Bond 25 movie, he made it clear and insisted that his character will not be a terrorist who speaks Arabic and causes destruction in the name of religion. He did not want to entertain any stereotypes and got his wish.
The Oscar winner in an interview stated :
“That was one thing that I discussed with [director] Cary Fukunaga. I said, ‘We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion. That’s not something I would entertain, so if that is why I am your choice then you can count me out’. But that was clearly not his vision. So he’s a very different kind of terrorist.”
The actor is very known for his deep rooted Egyptian cultural values. He has mentioned in his interviews how being Egyptian is a fabric of who he is and that he loves his tie to his culture and feels connected with his people. We stan a king like Rami who is proud of his country, his people, family and stands for what he believes in.
Not much details are known but it is rumored that Rami’s character will use technology to raise terror. Bond is schedules to release on April 8, 2020.
