The relationship between Pakistan and United States will be based on mutual respect and interests, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said. He also mentioned while speaking to Pakistan embassy that he will meet Mike Pompeo, State Secretary US to reset ties between the two countries.
The foreign minister is in the US to participate in the UN General Assembly session. He will meet Pompeo and diplomats on the sidelines of the assembly this month as well. Qureshi will be addressing the 73rd session of the UNGA, which opened on September 18, and will present Pakistan’s position and speak about Indian violence in Kashmir.
“China is important for Pakistan and the friendship with the United States is equally important. We will engage with both,” he said while responding to a question on the impact of CPEC on Pak-US relations, he said that Pakistan will engage with both the US and China.
