Zindagi Trust, founded by singer Shehzad Roy, has launched #TiflaToon. This is an initiative to engage children and build their curiosity about our cultures, ideas and languages. The stories under #TiflaToon have been narrated, illustrated and produced by young creatives in Pakistan.
Shehzad Roy has been known to work for the children’s welfare, with one of his biggest accomplishments being the law passed to tackle child abuse. With many initiatives and campaigns launched in the past for the education and sanitation of children, Roy has now brought the focus on teaching the future of Pakistan about our culture, ideas and languages.
#TiflaToon’s Plus Ka Jadoo is a beautifully narrated story about maths that has been narrated by Shehzad Roy himself in Urdu for the children. It is about a girl about Rani who was tired and dreaming about maths in class while her teacher was teaching her addition.
#TohBoltayKyunNahi is a song to urge kids to be honest to their teachers and parents about what they want and if they are facing any difficulties at any point. It is a much needed lesson for the children as they tend to hide stuff from the elders when they think that they will be made fun of or be told no. By encouraging them to talk to the adults more, we are creating a better and open relationship with the children.
Tina Ki Chatpat Dunya is a story about an ant who is addicted to watching cooking shows online and her parents are not so happy with this habit of hers. However, what they did not realise was that through this, Tina was learning how to cook and it helped them in their time of crisis. This teaches us that instead of putting down our children for their hobbies, try and find a learning point in each and every one of them so that the children grow up love and supported.
