Earlier this summer, it was announced that Spider-man would leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The news broke after Sony and Marvel Studios could not reach an agreement, but fortunately things turned for the better.

On 27th September, fans rejoiced as Sony and Disney finally struck an agreement which is bringing back Spider-man to Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it looks like Spidey’s getting a third movie after all!
The previous deal fell through due to a financial disagreement between the two studios. It was said that Disney was allegedly calling for a 50/50 split in revenues instead of its previous deal.
Had the deal never been revived, Spider-man would only exist in Sony’s universe. This meant that Spider-man wouldn’t have been able to appear in any of the Marvel Studios movies.

Marvel Studios co-president Kevin Feige said:
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it.”
So the third Spider-man Homecoming movie has a release date set for July 2021. Feige is said to produce the movie, alongside Amy Pascal from Sony.
