A Secret Health Hazard in Your Beauty Kit
A recent study revealed shocking news on one of the most common articles in our daily beauty regimem, the make-up brush. According to the scientists working on the study, dirty make-up brushes contain more bacteria than the average toilet seat and this can result in serious problems of skin health and hygiene.
The investigation compared the number of bacteria found in commonly-used articles of make-up with some of the household articles, which included toilet seats, and it was found that dirty brushes were full of those noxious micro-organisms, E. coli, staphylococcus and streptococcus. These organisms are capable of producing skin infections, acne, and, in bad cases, chronic skin disorders.
Ignorance of hygiene may ruin skin
Experts caution that those who use make-up adhere but vaguely to the arts of hygiene and often weeks or perhaps months intervene between the periods of cleansing the brushes. “Dirty brushes hold oils, dead skin cells and moisture — thus furnishing an ideal breeding place for bacteria,” said one of the leading dermatologists who was prominent in the study.
Simple means will help
Dermatologists advise to prevent the growth of bacteria in the brushes to wash them at least once a week, using a mild soap or a special brush cleaner. “It is also just as important to let them dry thoroughly before using them again in order to prevent the growth of a culture of mold.”
This study should be a revelation to all lovers of make-up! The next time you pick up your favorite make-up brush, just remember that it is something more than foundation being rubbed on your face when you let your mind drift back to the idea which must be present of a cleansing of the quick cleansing of the brush. Some clean brush will guarantee perfection of make-up to the woman of the world, but it will also conserve the health of her skin.
