Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Digital Pakistan, Tania Aidrus, resigned from her post due to the backlash against her dual citizenship. Aidrus publicly announced her decision via microblogging platform Twitter.
Criticism levied towards the state as a consequence of my citizenship status is clouding the purpose of Digital Pakistan. It is unclear whether PM Imran Khan will be accepting her resignation or not, but Twitter sure doesn’t look like it is accepting her decision!
You CANNOT design. This is ridiculous. Anybody who wants to work for Pakistan is maligned. Anybody who wants to loot Pakistan is facilitated. This is not acceptable.

Details on why Tania Aidrus is resigning as SAPM Digital Pakistan
Pakistan’s cabinet had issued details about the assets and dual nationalities of 20 advisers and special assistants to the prime minister.
According to the cabinet’s website, four of the SAPMs have dual nationalities – SAPM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar (US), SAPM on Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari (United Kingdom), SAPM on Power Division Shahzad Qasim (US) and and SAPM on Digital Pakistan Tania S. Aidrus (Canada).
