Traveling is an intriguing hobby. It allows you to explore some of the most beautiful and mesmerizing places in the world. However, traveling around the world can be expensive. Hence, Pakistanis opt for more cheaper destinations for travel. Destinations that are exciting and less costly. One of the destinations that has become the go to place for Pakistanis is the country of Azerbaijan.
Lately many Pakistanis travel to the country to explore some of the sights it has to offer. Not only is the country beautiful but it is also cheap in terms of accommodation and other expenditures such as shopping. The country is home to three UNESCO World Heritage sites and a diverse geography.
Many people travel to the capital Baku. The city is home to several historical sites detailing the vast history of Azerbaijan. The city is home to one of the most beautiful historical monuments; the Palace of the Shirvanshahs. The palace belonged to the Shirvanshah Dynasty, that ruled the country from the 13th to the 16th century. It is one of the most popular sites of attraction in the city.
The palace itself is located in the old city, which has several points of interest. These include the Maiden Tower, which is an old Zoroastrian monument that gives you a great view of the old city from the top. Another beautiful archaeological site is the Bazaar Square, which back in the old days was Baku’s main public square. The old city also has another popular site, the Gosha Gala Gapisi (or the Gates of Shah Abbas). This gate served as the only point of entry into Baku at the time.
Being a Muslim country, the capital has a large number of beautifully constructed mosques for travelers to relish. These include Muhammad Mosque which was constructed in the eleventh century and the city’s most popularly visited mosque; Bibi Heybat Mosque.
