As per Muslim traditions, every year, billions of Muslims adhere to the act of Qurbani. Following the Sunnat e Ibrahimi, people sacrifice animals in the name of Allah. Regardless of the age or gender, people either buy animals and sacrifice it on their own, or they go for ‘Ijitimai Qurbani”, where several animals are slaughtered and the meat is collected by people from one particular place, or is sent to their homes. Usually, this was popular in mosques, for decades, especially in Pakistan.
And unlike other Muslim countries, Pakistanis prefer to slaughter their animal right in front of their houses. Due to this, the remains are left on the road, with blood all around. And due to incompetent caretakers, the remains are usually left on the roadside for several days. This actually is what has been going on since Pakistan became a separate country. And no measures have been taken to overcome such a crisis since then only. Although, societies like Bahria Town, Naya Nazimabad, NHS, and other recently developed societies have separate slaughterhouses. However, these societies comprise less than 1% of total Karachi. And sadly, the rest of 98-99% of Karachi is usually found slaughtering on the streets.
The Issue:
However, people this time, for a change, went to stores that were offering ‘Ijtimai Qurbani’, and meat was to be delivered at respective homes. However, things didn’t work out for such. Most of the reports that came from such stores were negative and the reviews that were given were abysmal. What people expected to be a proper, systemized, meat delivery system, it was nothing more than a haphazardly decorated meat scam.

People received stale meat, with either its color turning blue or black. There were many people who received meat, that was stinking to its core. And there were few of those who never received meat in the very first place. These people had to run from place to place, in order to receive their meat. And the worst part is, that there was no organized decorum to return these things.
TRIGGER WARNING

There were people who, because of COVDI-19, didn’t opt for ‘Self-Qurbaani’. They rather decided to maintain the SOPs and not go to ‘Mandis’. Hence, it cost them more than they thought.
The Scam:
People put in thousands of rupees for Qurbani. Organizations like ARY Cattle Farm, Meat Master, Imtiaz Store, and many others. However, these organizations tried doing their best and provided people with Meat. Out of 100%, only 15-20% did face issues, but those were resolved and brought down with time. Either people were refunded or their old meat was exchanged with another fresh meat. However, Laal Meat was one organization, about which, there are way too bad reviews. Not only are these people not responding to the queries, but people haven’t recovered their given amount or have received meat in return.

Journalist, Junaid, also tweeted about this saying “A company named Laal Meat in Karachi has done major level fraud with people in Karachi for Qurbani orders. Families paid thousands of rupees and never got the meat. 2md day is gone apparently people fell for this because of celebrity endorsements.

Laal Meat:
Laal Meat was endorsed by Wasim Akram a few days ago. People started trusting this organization, however, their trust failed miserably. Nevertheless, after seeing a backfire, Laal Meat apologized for their doings and accepted their mistake. However, that wasn’t the solution to what they did. It isn’t easy to compensate for all, but they will have to. People are still looking forward to it. They cant carry out Qurbani now, but it seems like this one act might ruin the trust people had on such organizations.

It is for people to decide whether to trust such organizations or not. Whether to believe in them and their quality of meat or not. Or should one even opt for it ever again, or not.
However, we also look forward to these organizations to clear the matter on their own. And let people know what is to be done further. Will people be refunded, or what?
