Indus Motor Company Limited, through which Toyota operated in Pakistan, announced that their production plant is being shut down due to COVID-19 impacting the supply chain. The notice focuses on the delays in the delivery and production time frames as well as the national and international supply chains.

There is an emphasis on the term safety as “concept has been completely redefined.” The notice further stated that safety “now covers far more than it ever used to in the automobile industry and we must unite and take care of each other to ensure a better future for everyone.”
Toyota also mentioned a fluctuation in the prices of their products, implying that the COVID-19 pandemic and lock down of the country has led to a revise in the prices, “Due to the international economic conditions and the fluctuation in the FOREX index, regretfully the prices of our products and vehicle range are being revised. The new prices will not affect any full payments made however if a customer requires a refund, they may approach our Customer Assistance Center (CAC) which will process a complete refund without any penalties or deductions.”
Customers React to Toyota Closing Down the Production Plants

Most people were supportive of the decision made by Toyota, calling it a responsible move made by the company to shut down their production plants in Pakistan due to COVID-19.
One person asked in the comments if Toyota was laying off any workers during this time, to which the company replied, “Our employees and customers are important for us and in this situation, we are not laying off any of our employees.”
