Two Suspects Arrested in Dua, Bisma Kidnappings
Karachi Police Chief Memon revealed that two of the gang members involved in the kidnappings of Dua Mangi and Bisma Saleem have been arrested.
On November 30 of 2019, Dua Mangi was kidnapped from DHA Bukhari. When her friend, Haris Fatah, tried to stop the abductors, they shot him. Later, it was revealed that the kidnappers had abducted her due to them thinking she hailed from a rich family background.
Dua informed the police that she was kept in chains and handcuffs during her time of abduction. Her eyes were kept blindfolded and were only uncovered when she was eating. They had also covered her ears so that she couldn’t hear them, and identify their voices later.
Another girl, Bisma Saleem, was also kidnapped last year on May 12. Bisma is a 20 year old blogger and a make up artist, who was kidnapped outside her house as she was returning after Sehri – CCTV footage of her kidnapping showed one of the kidnappers grabbing her.
Both of the cases had been registered at Darakhshan police station.
Karachi Police Arrested 2 out 5 Abductors
Karachi Police Chief Ghulab Nabi Memon revealed on Wednesday that a former police officer and four of his helpers were involved in the kidnappings of Dua Mangi and Bisma Saleem. Two members of the group have been arrested, whereas raids are being conducted to capture the others. During the arrest, the Karachi Police was also able to recover many weapons.
The members who were arrested are named Zohaib Qureshi and Muzaffar (a.k.a. Mozi), and the others were former police ASI Agha Mansoor, Shakeel and Kamran (a.k.a. Kami). Qureshi revealed that he and Mansoor came up with the plans to kidnap the girls, and were inspired by movies. He further stated that they had used a rented apartment in Clifton, while using modern technology to keep their identities hidden.
