We’re Living in an Episode of Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a Netflix original consisting of five seasons. Looking at the current situation, it feels as if we're living in the 6th season of this show.
When you’re home, isolating yourself from the outside world and there’s not a lot to do so you’re bound to binge-watch Netflix series. The same has happened with me but I try to steer clear of such dark series during these times because let’s face it, we already have a lot going on around us. I’m a huge fan of Black Mirror and I’ve watched all of their episodes but it’s quite somber. Hence, I do not want to relive those episodes in my head, even subconsciously.
However, a Netflix ad has been circulating on the internet and it’s showing us the reality we’re living in, which is no less than a Black Mirror episode. The advertisement says that “Black Mirror 6th Season. Live now, everywhere.” Yes, whatever you read is right. This is the advertisement that has been circulating on the internet. Shocking, right? But so true at the same time.

With everything that’s been going on lately, it feels like we’re in an elongated version of a Black Mirror show where a virus appeared out of nowhere and has slowly engulfed the whole world. Due to this, many other conspiracies have also surfaced the internet spreading even more fear amongst everyone. Tracing apps, injecting chips and many such conspiracies have been spreading only to instill fear.
There’s no news on the official 6th Season of Black Mirror yet. Charlie Brooker, the creator of the show, has made it clear that he’s not releasing another season anytime soon. He made explained his plans while speaking to Radio Times:
“I’ve been busy, doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing. At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”
