Zohra Shah Child Protection Fund by Faryal Makhdoom, Amir Khan
According to her Instagram story, Faryal Makhdoom got in touch with Zohra's father and assured him that the Amir Khan Foundation will be taking care of the expenses.
In the past few weeks, we have had many tragedies strike the world including 8 year old Zohra Shah’s murder by her employer in Rawalpindi because she released a set of expensive parrots from a cage. Taking note of the situation, social media influencer Faryal Makhdoom and her husband, boxer Amir Khan, got in touch with Zohra Shah’s father, and helped set up the Zohra Shah Child Protection Fund.
According to her Instagram story, Faryal got in touch with Zohra’s father and assured him that the Amir Khan Foundation will be taking care of the expenses. Zohra’s grandfather told them that they were offered Rs 6,000 as settlement.
Faryal Makhdoom mentioned that when she started to look into the matter and reached to the family, many people inboxed her to ask why the family had sent Zohra to work. Her answer made the whole situation much more heartbreaking – the family had sent Zohra to her maternal aunt’s place in Islamabad to study. It was allegedly her aunt that sent her to work, where she was beaten to death.
The Amir Khan foundation team visited Zohra’s parents and siblings, and assured them that Zohra will get justice. Faryal Makhdoom stated that she has ensured that Zohra’s siblings will get a good education.
“Finally, they are humbled at our child protection fund in Zohra’s name, which will help thousands of children in the years to come, until we eradicate child abuse from Pakistan completely.”
