19th July: “Accession to Pakistan” day in Kashmir
19th July 2021 is being marked as "Accession to Pakistan" day in Kashmir in hopes of grabbing the attention of the UN over the Kashmir Issue.
For the past 73 years, India and Pakistan have been constantly fighting over the land of Jammu and Kashmir. This dispute has been posing a threat to world peace since then and now it is getting worse. Kashmir has decided to celebrate “Accession to Pakistan” day on the 19th of July, 2021.
July 19th carries an immense amount of importance in the history of the state of Kashmir. This day marks the decision, taken by the state, to opt for Pakistan over India after independence. Hence making it the perfect day to celebrate Accession to Pakistan day.
The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Farooq Khan, said that the locals have been fighting long and hard for this dream to be turned into reality and get the freedom they always wanted.
Additionally, the Leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, stood up in support of the people of Kashmir during her public rally address in Kohala. She called upon the people of Kashmir to vote for the party in the election being held on July 25th, 2021.
For now, Aseefa Bhutto is leading the election campaign for PPP however her brother and the Chairman of the party, Bilawal Bhutto is scheduled to join the campaign on 23rd July. He will initiate the 3rd phase of the campaign.
On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz and Imran Khan also have several rallies scheduled soon for their own election campaign.
On Accession to Pakistan day, several seminars and events will take place to bring attention to the Kashmir issue. It will also show support of Azad Jammu and Kashmir towards the occupied Jammu and Kashmir state.
The Prime Minister hoped the Accession to Pakistan day will help recognize the Kashmiri struggle for liberation internationally and will help in ending these years of suppression faced by the state.
