200 Years Old Temple Returned to Hindus

Almost 200 years old Hindu Temple has been returned back to the community in Zohb, Baluchistan.

For a multi-religious and multi-cultural country to grow, tolerance is much needed. By tolerance, it means the majority should accept the minority and their rights likewise. In India, we have seen lately, that the government and the people, both, are quite intolerant. However, if we see Pakistan in this aspect, we see people accepting religions and minorities. Where Muslims and their mosques are being targeted in India, Muslims in Pakistan are trying their level best to restore the old Hindu Temples.

By end of 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan opened up the Kartarpur Corridor, which was a sacred place for Sikhs all over the world. Moreover, the Government of Baluchistan has opened doors to a 200 years old Temple in Zohb. The temple closed down 70 years ago. Instead a school had been built there, which is now shifting to some other place.

Deputy Commissioner Talha Saleem expressed his views on this event. Today is an important day in the history of Balochistan. This is an example of religious harmony. Maulana Allah Dad, the khateeb of the [local] Jamia Masjid, not only supported the decision but also participated as a special guest at the ceremony,” Saleem said while addressing the crowd. “We apologise to the minority community for the delay,” he said. He assured them that the restoration of the temple will also be completed soon.

The Hindus are also quite glad with this decision. They have their old worship Temple back with them. It is an appreciable step taken by government. It would be grateful of them, if they also start looking in to forced conversions and marital issues.
