A Letter to the Responsible Government
It has been years since Karachi was revamped, and was made a better place to live. What now?
Respected Government Officials,
I hope you are doing well. It has been quite many years since I have been living in Karachi. At this age, I can say, that I have the good days of Karachi, the bad days of Karachi, and the worst days of Karachi. But what I see now, I doubt I have seen that ever before. I have seen spells of rain coming down in the last few years. The recorded amount usually doesn’t exceed two digits, but when it does, there is a disaster in the city. In a city where the average number of lower-middle-class and lower-class people is way more than that of the upper-class and the upper-middle-class.
Sir, these people have an income of less than 20,000-30,000 per month. There are people here who live in areas where they do not have a proper roof on their heads. They try hard to earn by doing odd jobs just in order to feed their family. Karachi might seem to be a rich country, but sir, this is a capitalist city. Here, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, day by day.
Sir, you are accountable for your city. It isn’t of any use to tell people what is happening in Lahore. No sir, you are accountable for what is happening in Sindh, in Karachi. Why are you even comparing it with Lahore?
You will be criticized on roads and by journalists sir, if your government doesn’t work. Learn to take criticism. We haven’t seen proper development in the city for ages. Each and every year, the monsoon leaves huge destruction behind, yet you do nothing each and every year. Sir, do something before the citizens start standing up against you. We still have faith in you.
