Aima Baig Says She Composed Songs For Bollywood And Rejected a Movie
Aima Baig spoke candidly on the newest podcast with Shahveer Jafry about the chances that she passed up and turned down in Pakistan and on Netflix.
Considering their political differences, both India and Pakistan have a passion for the arts. Numerous artists have produced work in the adjoining nation, where they enjoy enormous popularity. Numerous actors and singers from Pakistan had contracted with Indian productions prior to the country’s prohibition of Pakistani artists. In the newest webcast with Shahveer Jafry, musician Aima Baig disclosed that she has composed five songs just for Bollywood.
Aima Baig made reference to the 2016 ban by saying, “Me, along with some of my fellow members, who you all might know as well, recorded five songs each and then the incident happened,” referring to the 2016 ban. Jafry asked her if the songs ever got released, to which Baig said “Nah, but they will… one day.”
One of the songs, Aima claimed, is for a Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan film. The songs were composed and recorded in Dubai. I was never permitted to go to India. I collaborated with incredible producers that I had always wanted to work with.
Aima remarked, “If they don’t get released there then I’ll just release them here,” she said, adding that she doesn’t have the rights to the songs. “But I’ll find a way.”
Along with Jafry, Danyal Zafar, Zarrar Khan, Kinza Hashmi, Khaqan Shahnawaz, and Hina Ashfaque, the pop singer was reportedly also set to appear in Mahira Khan’s Baarwan Khiladi television movie. The part of Ashfaque, who appeared on the show as Jafry and Zafar’s romantic interest, was given to Baig.
Aima Baig admitted that four years ago when she first had the opportunity the part, she was wheelchair-bound due to arthritis and had swollen bones. “I was literally in a wheelchair for about six months and I was also doing the Punjab tour at the same time.”
“It got to a point where I was taking Methotrexate, a chemotherapy medicine. I lost most of my hair and I was just gaining weight because I was taking 12 steroids every morning, just to be able to do things. It was quite major and I went to a doctor in New York,” Aima continued.
“In those days this was triggered so I told Mahira Khan this.” She continued, that she wasn’t comfortable sharing this with the other creators of the series, hence she only told Khan about it. “Mahira is the nicest, I don’t know why is she so nice. I have never met anyone sweeter than her,” according to Aima.
The singer claimed that Khan informed her that her uncle also suffered from arthritis, allowing her to gain insight into the condition.
“That’s how the whole problem got settled very subtly and we have no beef between each other.” Aima continued, “Thanks to Mahira for actually understanding my situation back then.”
Speaking of more acting prospects, the singer disclosed that she was offered a series on the well-known streaming service Netflix. “Barwaan Khiladi was not the first offer that I received, before this I got an offer from several movies and dramas. Lately, I am also thinking about another one. No, no, I can’t say this, it’ll get me in trouble,” Aima claimed. The YouTuber inquired if it was a movie or drama and Baig replied, “It’s actually a web series for Netflix.”
“However, I want to make a name for myself as a singer. Before I move on to something else, I truly desire my very own music to be heard everywhere,” Aima continued.
