Amazon Is Ready To Launch Into The Space Game With “Space Internet”
Amazon is jumping into the space internet game with Project Kuiper after Elon Musk. This project intends to give high-speed internet to residents of Earth.
Yes, it is true the internet is about to get much faster and more accessible in the upcoming days with now Amazon diving into the “Space Internet” game.
This project of Amazon is called Project Kuiper and the costs of the project and timing of the launch haven’t been revealed yet.
Amazon said on Tuesday that it will launch a “constellation” of satellites in lower orbit around the Planet to give internet connection to people on the ground. Amazon claims its partnerships with Blue Origins, United Launch Alliance (ULA) and Arianespace are the world’s largest commercial launch vehicle procurements ever.
Boeing joined the space internet competition end of 2021, obtaining US approval for satellites that could deliver internet access from above. Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, has already launched over 1,500 satellites into space to form the Starlink broadband service network.
According to Amazon, Project Kuiper intends to bring high-speed broadband internet connection to families, schools, hospitals, companies, disaster relief operations, and others in areas where there is no stable connectivity.
Dave Limp, Amazon’s senior vice president, made a statement “We still have lots of work ahead, but the team has continued to hit milestone after milestone across every aspect of our satellite system.”
Elon forged a partnership with Microsoft, Amazon’s biggest cloud computing competitor, to leverage Microsoft’s Azure platform to deliver his variant of space-based broadband service.
Amazon is building Kuiper in-house and intends to employ capabilities already in place in other Amazon divisions, including logistics and the AWS cloud-based computing arm.
Bezos has invested some of his Amazon fortunes in Blue Origin, a private space exploration company. With Blue Origin receiving some of Amazon’s launch contracts, one Bezos organisation will be feeding revenue to another.
In a joint statement, Blue Origin senior vice president Jarrett Jones stated, “We’re honoured to support Amazon’s ambitious mission to provide reliable, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world.”
