Bahrain, Pakistan Ties Underway
A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Pakistan and Bahrain pledged to keep working for better relations.
On Friday, January 8, 2021, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Bahrain. During his visit, he met with the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Commander-In-Chief Bahrain Defence Forces Field, Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa and Commander Bahrain National Guard, Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Soon after, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Pakistan and Bahrain pledged to keep working for better relations. According to the media department of the army, matters of mutual interest, bilateral defence, security cooperation and regional security situations in the Middle East were amidst the discussions held during the meeting in Bahrain.
“Bahraini leadership reaffirmed their special relationship with Pakistan,” the ISPR added.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was honoured with the Bahrain Order (First Class) by Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his efforts and significant contributions towards defence cooperation between both Muslim nations. He also witnessed the closing ceremony of PAK- Bahrain joint military exercise AL-BADAR-V at Sakhir Camp.
“He appreciated the standard of training and the results [of the joint exercise] attained,” said the ISPR. Gen Bajwa pointed out that the exercise highlighted both countries’ efforts against terrorism.
Adding to the strengthening ties between Bahrain and Pakistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi too, on Friday discussed resolving disputes within the Gulf states in telephonic conversations with his counterparts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.
