Cause of Friend’s Actor Matthew Perry Revealed
Recently, the main cause of Matthew Perry's death, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, passed away at the age of 54.
Sadly, at 54, Matthew Perry—best known for playing Chandler Bing on the beloved show Friends—passed away. According to an autopsy report provided by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office, the main cause of Perry’s mortality was the “acute effects” of ketamine, a potent anaesthetic with hallucinogenic qualities, as reported.
On October 28, Perry’s body was found unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence, shocking and upsetting his many admirers. His premature death was also caused by coronary artery disease, the opioid buprenorphine, and drowning in water, according to the postmortem report.
The primary cause of death, according to the investigation, was the “acute effects of ketamine.” Ketamine was originally mostly used as an anaesthetic, but it is now widely used as a substitute treatment for psychological issues like anxiety, sadness, and PTSD. Ketamine use for pleasure is also not unusual.
Perry had received ketamine infusion therapy, according to the postmortem results. Still, there was no connection between the ketamine in his body at the exact moment of his death and his last recorded therapy session, which took place around a week and a half before the fatal incident. The paper stressed that his postmortem blood’s high ketamine content would cause respiratory depression and cardiovascular excessive stimulation, consequences similar to those associated with general anaesthesia.
Furthermore, “therapeutic” quantities of buprenorphine, a medication frequently used for the treatment of addiction and pain, were found by toxicological tests. In an official declaration, Perry’s live-in assistant said that he was taking buprenorphine once a day as directed by his doctor as part of his treatment. The investigation also showed that although Perry’s system contained sedatives, no signs of cocaine, methamphetamine, or alcohol were found.
Information from the released documents clarified Perry’s last day. He enjoyed pickleball in the early hours, according to investigators, and his helper departed the house for chores at 1:37 p.m. At 4 p.m., they returned and found Perry lying face down in the hot tub. Even though they tried to help him right away, the paramedics who arrived declared him dead.
The report on the autopsy emphasises the need for care and adherence to appropriate medical protocols by highlighting the possible risks connected to the pleasure or medicinal use of ketamine. The untimely passing of Matthew Perry provides a sobering reminder of the difficult obstacles that those battling drugs and mental illness must overcome.
