How Reliable Are Our Security Forces?

We, as citizens, look forward to our security officials when it comes to reporting crime. But are these officials trustworthy or worthy enough?

Like in every other organization, the security forces also have some unwanted people, recruited, usually. People usually take advantage of their selected designations, hence giving an upper hand on the the people under them. This is what has happened with three army officers recently. Where at one place, the army is doing its best to curb terrorism from Pakistan, on the other hand, a handful of their personnel are deterring the discipline in the organization. Three officers, ranked as Major in the army, were found guilty of misusing their authority and being involved in illegal activities. ISPR was quite bold to tell this in media.

The Military’s Media wing stated “Upon [being] found guilty of the charges leveled against them, all three [have been] dismissed from service. Two [have] also [been] awarded rigorous imprisonment for two years each”. Unclear on what they are guilty for, the actual reasons have not been put forward yet.

Furthermore, Amir Masih’s brother, Sunny Masih, also looks forward towards justice over his brother’s death. Punjab Security, Police, brutally treated Amir, which included several degrees of torture too. According to Suuny “They’ve killed my brother and I want justice”. There have been several cases of torture by Punjab Security for long now, and everyone looks forward to justice. “The state and its apparatus is responsible for killing my brother, so who can I seek justice from now?” asked Sunny.

Our Verdict:

How sad is the fact that security officials responsible to help the citizens, are now playing the role of culprits in the society. The people, unaware, of whom to seek justice from, are usually found wandering on roads for justice. We can just pray that those who seek justice, get justice, at their earliest, regardless whoever is the culprit in the crime. Everyone, whether a security officer, a politician or a normal citizen, all should be seen as equal in the court.
